Online AOI is an optical detector that can be placed on the smt assembly line and used at the same time as other equipment in the smt assembly line.
Offline AOI is an optical detector that cannot be placed on the SMT assembly line and used together with the SMT assembly line, but can be placed in other locations to inspect the PCB boards on the SMT assembly line.
The main differences between online AOI and offline AOI are as follows:
Features of Online AOI ：
1. 100% full detection
2. High degree of automation. All inspections are done automatically with the pipeline
3. Automatic detection, no need to consider ESD problems
4. Low labor intensity, no manual assistance is required except for equipment programming
Features of Offline AOI：
1. General sampling or batch sampling
2. Manual assistance is required to complete the inspection, and the degree of automation is not high
3. The risk of ESD is high, the inspection process requires manual assistance, and important components need to be extra careful.
4. Each board needs to be put in manually, and then taken out after testing
5. There is light pollution, and the inspector is in close contact with high-brightness light sources.
The difference between AOI inspection principles: At this stage, there are two main inspection and comparison technologies used by AOI optical detectors:
One is statistical modeling (that is, an improved board for image comparison). Offline AOI uses this technology a lot, and some companies also use this technology on online AOI.
One is the feature vector analysis (ie, the contrast detection after image vectorization), and this technology is widely used in online AOI.
Similarities between online AOI and offline AOI:
1. The inspection method is the same. The pcb board is defined by the optical principle, and the qualified board and the problem board are distinguished.
2. The test objects are basically the same, but the online AOI is better for small components, mainly because the online AOI configuration is high.
